We're excited to introduce our newest framebuilding tool - the Bosch Gen 5 motor node purge plug, AKA the Airloc. We have been 3D printing motor nodes for the new Bosch SX Drive Units in both 6/4 titanium and 17-4 stainless steel, and while the nodes are great, there's not a great way to purge them easily; previous methods include aluminum foil tents, aluminized tape, and lots of melted adhesive and poor coverage.
This is a tri-purpose kind of tool - it:
- takes up most of the space inside the node and reduces the amount of gas you need to get a good purge while guaranteeing great coverage
- acts as the main interface between your frame fixture and the Gen 5 node
- is a big heatsink that will help prevent distortion while welding
It's machined out of 6061 aluminum and comes in two pieces.
If you're going to be at the 2024 MADE.bike show August 23-25 in Portland, we will have some on display with some of our 3D printed nodes. Stop by our booth #208 to get a closer look!
