What components do I need for my wheel build?

We have created a configurator tool to take the guess work out of getting the right list of parts for your 3X3 NINE hub build. We even have rim options for fully built wheels! Visit it at: https://3x3config.vpl.bike

Will this work with my current bike?

The 3X3 NINE is designed to fit common bike standards: 135mm QR, 142×12, or 148×12 (Boost) rear spacing.
It works with chain or belt drive (belt requires a belt-ready frame)

Can I run a chain or a belt on my 3X3 hub?

The 3x3 is designed to be used with either a chain or belt for both non-motorized and eBike applications. A belt-drive compatible frame is required to run a belt drive.

How do I integrate my 3X3 hub with my E-Bike motor?

If you’re running 3X3 eShift, integration is simple with Bosch Smart System (BES3): connect the 3X3 actuator to your Bosch drive unit using the correct 3X3 cable, plugged into the motor’s High Power port. On startup, the Bosch system automatically detects the shifting system.

From there, you can shift using an eShift trigger (E.TR.ADJ / E.TR.CMD / TRP Hywave) and optionally set things like start gear / auto-downshift in the eBike Flow app or 3X3 app.

Note: eShift + retrofit installs typically require Bosch Smart System compatibility and are best handled through the bike manufacturer/dealer.

What do I need to do for service?

The 3X3 NINE hub gear is protected against dirt and water by a special sealing concept and, thanks to grease lubrication, does not require oil changes. Nevertheless, you should regularly clean the gearbox and drivetrain. The necessary maintenance intervals depend on usage time and weather conditions. In addition, regularly check all bolts (except the gearbox housing screws) and the shift cables. Once a year, you should take your bicycle to a specialist dealer for a full service to ensure that all safety-relevant components such as the frame and brakes are checked for wear.
